How to make your training effective

Today, the concept of life long learning is gaining popularity – systemic education throughout life. To be successful, you need to continually update your knowledge and skills + to have a specific interdisciplinary vision, to understand what is going on around you. On the other hand, there is a risk of misusing this approach. It often turns out that this is a study for the sake of study. After training, a person lives full of energy and enthusiasm to introduce changes for some time. But it takes several weeks, routine tightens, and everything remains the same. So it repeats from course to course, from training to training. Why is that?

Part of the responsibility lies with the lecturer/trainer. But the biggest part of the positive effect depends on the person himself. It takes from 21 days to 2 months for new knowledge to turn into skills. All this time you need to introduce into your life the knowledge you have gained systematically.

  1. When choosing the training, it is necessary to focus on the solution of their specific tasks.
  2. Before training, set goals and expectations for yourself. Answer the question: “What should I achieve after the completion of the course?”
  3. It is necessary to learn how to adapt the received knowledge.
  4. During the training, make up an individual development plan for yourself.
  5. After the course ends, use a reminder system.
  6. You can team up with someone from your classmates. In a pair, it’s easier to control each other. Less chance to grow lazy, get stuck in fluidity.
  7. Evaluate the results. And most importantly – mark your progress and identify areas for further development.
